That looks like fun. Is that a cut-line I see?

I had to break out the cut-off wheel on my truck today. (Bed swap.) Got all the bolts out but two. So I cut some holes in the bed for access and cleaned up the threads with a wire-wheel. I’m letting them soak overnight in penetrating oil.

That’s what was left of the shock on that side. I did bust a brake line on the driver side though. It’d be easier if I could pull the springs.

New bed? That truck is a keeper. Do you have those Torx bolts holding it on?

Nope; I understand Torx bolts are a Ford thing. My bed is held on by 8 hex bolts which are all accessed from underneath. I put my electric impact to work on them, but I had to crack some of them loose with a breaker bar first.

I probably sound like a broken record saying this (I’ve been recommending it a lot lately), but if you have to replace some hard brake lines, look into that NiCopp tubing.

I’m stuck with steel on this one but when I do the rest of the lines I’m absolutely picking that stuff up. I’m far enough into this thing that I may as well do things right and keep it now.
